Pennsylvania Dough Table, early 19th century
This somewhat unusual table is poplar throughout and has a deep well compartment which is original. The compartment is accessed by removing two pegs on either side that secure the top to the base as shown in the pictures. We are guessing that this is a variation on a standard dough table form. There are early rosehead nails holding the bottom panel on the piece. It is obviously refinished, but is still attractive and useful as a breakfast table, island or large end table.
