Empire Commode, ca. 1810
This is a period Empire commode with its original ormolou decoration. It is French and dates from around 1810. It is pine, veneered with flame mahogany. The ormolou angels at the top of the side plinths are remarkable as are the escutcheons which are interlocking cornucopias. The top of the chest is in dire need of a refinishing to reveal the bookmatched crotch mahogany veneers.
