Sheraton Mahogany Drop Leaf Table, ca. 1810 (Baltimore; probably John Needles))
This mahogany drop leaf table has exceptional wood and poplar secondary wood, that is in as-found condition. Based upon the thick reading on the Sheraton legs, we believe it is by a cabinet maker named John Needles who worked in Baltimore around 1810. Interestingly, John Needles is reported to be an early anti-slavery abolitionist working to abolish slavery well before the Civil War. One swing leg has been reparied and it is missing a little string moulding. Otherwise the table is completely original.
